Assessment of focal numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain that may arise from an injured or compressed peripheral nerve, including common entrapment neuropathies.
Signs and symptoms to discuss with a clinician
- Persistent numbness or tingling in a hand, arm, foot, or leg
- Weak grip, foot drop, or loss of dexterity
- Pain that follows a specific nerve distribution
- Symptoms after trauma, surgery, repetitive use, or prolonged pressure
Emergency symptoms: Call 911 for sudden severe symptoms, new one-sided weakness, trouble speaking, a first or prolonged seizure, severe head injury, sudden vision loss, chest pain with fainting, or any rapidly worsening condition.
