Understand & manage

  • BE FAST reminds you to notice sudden Balance or Eye changes, Face drooping, Arm weakness, and Speech problems. Time means call 911 immediately.
  • Note when symptoms started or when the person was last known well. Call even if symptoms disappear. Do not drive yourself or wait for an appointment.
  • Long-term prevention may include blood-pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and atrial-fibrillation management, avoiding tobacco, activity, and prescribed medicines. Do not start aspirin for a suspected stroke without emergency medical direction.
  • VNG provides follow-up after hospital evaluation, risk-factor review, and coordination with rehabilitation. New stroke symptoms require emergency services.

When to get medical help

Any new stroke warning sign is an emergency. Call 911 now, even if you are unsure or symptoms improve.
