Understand & manage

  • Parkinson’s can affect movement, balance, sleep, mood, bowel function, and swallowing. Exercise and physical, occupational, or speech therapy may support daily life.
  • Choose a varied diet with vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and adequate protein. Discuss constipation, weight loss, choking, or dehydration with your care team.
  • Protein can affect levodopa absorption in some people. Ask about timing meals and medicines; do not eliminate protein or change doses yourself. Follow any fluid restrictions.
  • VNG provides movement-disorder evaluation, medication management, and coordination with physical, occupational, and speech therapy as symptoms change.

When to get medical help
